APPRENTICESHIPS
We aim to provide a positive first experience for young people interested in sustainable food production.
Responsibilities
Assist with outdoor and greenhouse projects as required by seasonal plans
Involved in all
aspects of the vegetable production; planting, cultivating, harvesting, packaging
Assist in maintenance
projects such as fence construction and repair
Interact with
farm patrons and volunteers, prepare for public events, and welcome the public
to the farm
Read and watch
relevant articles and short films on the subject of sustainable agriculture
and small food production

Details
Seeking high school
Juniors or older. Interest in sustainable agriculture and/or ecology is a plus.
There are four
work days each week:
Sunday: 10am - 4pm (every 3rd Sunday is off)
Tuesday, Wednesday
and Thursday: 8am - 4pm. The work week totals approximately 26 hours.
The apprenticeship
starts with a trial period of three weeks and a minimum commitment of eight
weeks.
The weekly compensation
is $120/week with an increase for those who fulfill at least 8 weeks.

Understand that we will have long and hard days but also short and easy days
Free Time
When you work on a farm time off becomes very valuable. Rest is essential
to ensure prime performance while working.
A stream runs through
the back of our farm, in the forest, and our land includes 60 acres of wooded
trails ideal for outdoor activities such as hiking, running, photography and
fishing. There is a deep swimming hole on the farm. We encourage their use!
